Good Evening IMSA North Family,
This is Onder Secen, the Principal with this week’s Principal’s corner.

This year all of our 4th graders created posters to participate in the citywide Healthy Reasons To Say No To Drugs Creative Arts Contest. Out of all the 4th and 5th graders participated, congratulations to Autoria Robinson for placing 2nd overall. Also congratulations to Miracle Adejmoke, Aaliyah Barnett, and Ay’anna Martin for receiving Honorable Mentions. These students were presented their awards this past Friday in the central library downtown.

Congratulations to one of our parents, Kimberly Foy,  for winning the 55 inches Samsung TV among all the parents who submitted to our google review page. Ms.Foy’s daughter graduated from IMSA high school this year. You can see the picture and the videos including the raffle here.

While our review campaign for TV is over, we always encourage our parents to submit their reviews on google.

This is the first message for 2019-2020 school year. If you are new to IMSA North, please know that you will receive this Sunday messages every Sunday at 6pm on your phone and email. As the Principal of IMSA North, I would like to thank you for trusting us with your children for another year.

Our current students will receive their report cards in the next few days.

Our summer school will start on tomorrow, Monday. Tuesday and Wednesday there will not be a summer school since all the teachers will be in training. Thursday summer school will continue.

Good Evening IMSA North Family,

This is Onder Secen, the Principal with this week’s Principal’s corner.

Thanks to all the parents who have contributed to our parent review campaign. We have 13 eligible parents for the raffle so far and the raffle will be this upcoming Tuesday. You can still submit reviews until Tuesday morning to be eligible. See the link for details.

Class of 2019 graduated with 28 seniors this past Saturday. They have been a great senior class and we wish them the best in college and careers.

Our KG promotion is this upcoming Tuesday at 9:30am and 8th-grade promotion is also Tuesday at 11:30am.

Field day is this Thursday and the last day of school is this Friday.

This will be my last Sunday announcement for 2018-2019 school year. Starting from next Sunday, only students and staff who will be with us in 2019-2020 school year  will receive the messages. As a parent, if this is your last year with IMSA, I would like to thank you for trusting your children with us. We will always be part of your family.

Congratulations to our middle school track team. Our girls were the champions of their division and our boys are the co-champions. Kudos to the team and the students.

All the seventh graders and eighth graders are encouraged to apply for the 21t century scholarships if you would like to attend college free. Please see the flier in English and Spanish.

Our high school graduation for the class of 2019 is this upcoming Saturday at 10am in the school gym. This senior class has been very responsible and a role model for the rest of the student population. Congratulations class of 2019.

IMSA North – Principal’s Announcements

Good Evening IMSA North Family,

Our students in grades 3-8 worked really hard last week during ILEARN state tests and they will continue to take ILEARN this week. Please continue to make sure all students attend school take the test during the regular testing time so they can do their best.

If you are enrolling and of your sibling children to our school for next year, please visit our website for enrollment. EnrollIndy is in a shutdown mode in May so enrollment will be done through schools during May.

IMSA North – Principal’s Announcements

Good Evening IMSA North Family,

This is Onder Secen, the Principal with this week’s Principal’s corner.

This week and next week is ILEARN week, the Indiana state tests. All of our students in grades 3-8 will be taking the ILEARN test. Please make sure all students are in attendance during testing this week and next week. Students do 30% better if they take the test during the regular testing time compared to a makeup. Our students have been learning throughout the year and we wish them the best luck to show their learning during the test.

Good Evening IMSA North Family,

Thanks to all the parents, students and staff for another great annual IMSA Showcase. There were so many events in the classrooms, robotics, face painting, bounce house, health fair, hot dogs and the raffle. Special thanks go to Ms.Andino, our PTO president, who organized the health fair and got bounce house and hotdogs donated. You can see the pictures in this link.

If you shop at Kroger, you can have Kroger donate to our school through Kroger Community Rewards program. Please select our school or follow the steps here

High school soccer practice is in the gym right after school until 4:30 on Monday and Wednesday starting this week. See Coach Harrell if you have questions.

The Senate version of the budget reduced the $1000 per student grant to $500 per student. We need your help to call the senators. The phone numbers for the aides for the senators are below. If you can call one number, that will go a long way. You can ask them to “ reinstate the charter and innovation per-student funding back to the house budget version, which is $1000 per student. The additional funding will mean additional technology, teacher aids, and curriculum resources.”

IMSA North – Principal’s Announcements
Good Evening IMSA North Family,

This is Onder Secen, the Principal with this week’s Principal’s corner.

Around 40 students from grades 5 through 12 and several staff members went to Columbus and Cleveland on on Friday and Saturday to attend Concept Schools Science and Engineering Fair as well as Math Olympics. Thanks to Ms.Bargy, our STEM coordinator, for organizing and coordinating the event. Students visited COSI in Columbus and received various medals during the fair. More information will be on the website soon.

We need your help!  Please support us by contacting the State Legislature to increase funding for charter schools. You can email, call or send twitter messages. Please use the link in this announcement for contact information for the lawmakers.

All parents are encouraged to attend our next PTO Meeting,  Wednesday, April 10th at 6pm. All students’ whose parent attends this meeting will have a dress down the next day on Thursday.

Our showcase is on April 18, Thursday between 4pm-7pm. Showcase will also include a health fair.

ISTEP tests for the 10th grade will be during the week of April 15th and ILEARN, the new state tests for grades 3 through 8 will start during the week of April 29th. Please make sure your children continue to attend school everyday and continue to help them have a strong finish to the school year.

Our college and career fairs were well attended. We had over 15 college representatives and over 10 career professionals.

Congratulations to our elementary robotics team for coming first in the sumorobot category in Concept Schools Robotics competition yesterday. They also ranked second place in weight hauling and third place in line following category.

IMSA North – Principal’s Announcements

Good Evening IMSA North Family,

This is Onder Secen, the Principal with this week’s Principal’s corner.

Thanks to all parents who came to our students of the month luncheon. Students and parents included we had 26 people to celebrate the February students of the month.

We sprang forward an hour last night. Please make sure to adjust your clocks, you are receiving this message little bit after 6pm.

Our students competed in two competitions yesterday. Our 8th graders competed against other 8th grade and high school students from Concept school coming from 6 different states in Indianapolis downtown library.

Tia Davis and Mikayia Hendricks got first place and Devon Wilson and Kalen Hill got third place in team recitation.Shane Hickman and DJ Mohid competed in recited spoken word individually and had a really good showing. Thanks to Ms.Lawson for coaching and preparing the students.

Our elementary and middle school VEX IQ robotics teams competed in the state championship yesterday. Our elementary team got 7th place overall and qualified for the World Championship in Kentucky. Congratulations to coach Mr.Turan and 4th grade students Brian Torres, Peter Tepas, Kourtney Clark. Our middle school team also had a great showing and placed 6th place. In middle school category only the top 3 teams qualified for the World Championship. While their season ended yesterday, the team did a great job coached by Mr.Turker and students Patrick Tepas and Toby Webster.

If you have a bachelor’s degree, thinking of going into teaching but you feel you need more experience by being a teacher resident for a year before becoming a classroom teacher, you can check out Relay Teaching Residency Program. You can call the us if you have more questions.

We are still looking for a bus aide to help in the morning and in the afternoons. Please call us for more details.

Please mark your calendars for our showcase on April 18th, Thursday between 4pm-7pm. There will not be parent teacher conferences that day and we will have showcase instead.

Our kindergarten round up will be on April 30th. More details to come later.

Our Black History Month program was great. Thanks to all the parents who came to celebrate with us.

Vision and Hearing screening this Thursday and Friday, March 7th & 8th for grades 1, 3. 4, 5, 7, 8 and 10.

Mobile Dentist will be coming next  Thursday and Friday, March 14th and 15th.  Application will be going home Monday, tomorrow.  Please fill them out and return them this Friday, March 8th.

Parents who wants to enroll their sibling children at IMSA next year, instructions to access Enroll Indy have been sent home with the student and parents were called. Please apply for their enrollment through Enroll Indy.

A big thank you to 84% of our students and parents who returned their re-enrollment forms for next year. We started our open enrollment for next year and 43 new students already enrolled for next year.

IMSA North – Principal’s Announcements

Good Evening IMSA North Family,

This is Onder Secen, the Principal with this week’s Principal’s corner.

Indiana is rolling out new state assessments, ILEARN. The types of questions students in grades 3-8 will face in ILEARN are in this link. We encourage you to review these questions with your children. ILEARN will take place at the end of April.

We are looking for a bus aide in the morning and in the afternoons. The pay will be $20 for the morning and $20 for the afternoon, $40 for the day. If you or anyone you know are interested, please call the school.

We are in the middle of a legislative session in the statehouse. There is a bill being propose that will increase charter school funding substantially and we need your support. Please call and email your legislators for the bill. Information about the bill and the contact information of the legislators are in the link here.

Congratulations to our elementary VEX IQ robotics team for ranking 2nd in their regional competition yesterday. Congratulations to Mr.Turan and the students. This Tuesday we will find out if they can make it to the state finals.

Dear K-5 Parents, thank you to all who participated in the PTO “For the Love of Reading!” Fundraiser.  Remember all reading logs and money are due on Monday.

Our Black History Month Program will be tomorrow, Monday. The 1st show will begin at 10:45 am and the 2nd show will begin at 2pm. The program for K-2 students will be between  9:30am – 10:00am.

All parents are encouraged to attend the PTO  Meeting Wednesday, February 27th at 6pm. There are many exciting, end of the year activities, the PTO would appreciate your help and ideas.  

Carmel Monon Center Swim Party will be this Friday , March 1st from 8-10pm. This party is free for all students in grades 3rd, 4th and 5th grade who reached their AR goals for First Semester.

Good Evening IMSA North Family,

This is Onder Secen, the Principal with this week’s Principal’s corner.

Our high school FTC Robotics team ranked 21st out of 32 teams and middle school VEX IQ team ranked 1st out of 80 teams yesterday. Thanks to our coaches and our students for working hard to achieve these great results. Middle school team qualified twice to join the state finals.

A reminder to 5th grade parents that starbase summer camp email has been sent to you, please check your emails.

A reminder to our 8th grade parents, please check out our STEM programs for high school while making your high school decisions.

The PTO is hosting a For the Love of Reading Read a Thon, this week, Tuesday Friday.  Your child should have brought home the letter, pledge sheet and an envelope.

 

Thanks to  65% of our students returned their re-enrollment forms. If you have a sibling to enroll to our school who is not a student currently, please go through enroll indy. Again enrollindy iis only for new students, returning students only need to turn in their re-enrollment forms.

Good Evening IMSA North Family,

This is Onder Secen, the Principal with this week’s Principal’s corner.

Congratulations to your high school FTC Robotics team for ranking 17 out of 29 teams yesterday. Coach Mr.Harrell and students Franklin Ramirez, Edwin Mendoza, Daniel Falola, and Alyssa Riley led the teams.

Thanks to all the parents who came to our students of the month luncheon. We had 26 parents and students attended the lunch last Thursday.

Also thanks to all the parents who joined us in our first semester award assembly. It was great to recognize all the students for their improvements and accomplishments.

Lastly we have 325 students turned in their re-enrollment forms for next year. Our second mini IPAD winner for this week was Rasaan Alfred from 4th grade. We also had more than 100 new students applied to enroll to our school through enrollindy. To make sure you are assigned to a bus and also continue to reserve your spot for next year, please turn in your re-enrollment forms before the end of the month.

One of our freshman students won the CONSEF design contest among all the 30 Concept Schools. Congratulations to Yadira Miranda as the winner. Her design will be printed on all the t-shirts students will be given during Science Fair in Cleveland.

Thanks to 171 students who turned in their re-enrollment forms. Out of the students who paid their consumable fee, the winner of the miniIPAD for this week is Amani Collins from 1st grade. He will receive his miniIPAD during the rescheduled award assembly this upcoming Friday.

Indiana Math & Science Academy North/West is putting together a local school Wellness Committee/ Health Advisory Council.  We are looking for interested parents and students to serve on the committee.  Please let the school know if you are interested.

Marion County Health Department will be here to do Vision and Hearing Screening on Thursday and Friday, February 7th and 8th, 2019.

IMSA North – Principal’s Announcements

Good Evening IMSA North Family,

This is Onder Secen, the Principal with this week’s Principal’s corner.

Our re-enrollment for next school year has started. You should have received the re-enrollment forms with the report cards. Any student who returns their re-enrollment form and pay $25 consumable fee will be entered into a weekly drawing for a mini iPad.

This Friday, February 1st we will have our 1st semester award assembly between 12pm to 1pm. The assembly will be for grades 3-12 in gym and K-2 in K-2 hallway. Students who will be given awards are given invitation letters to share with their parents.

Also on Friday it is an early release day, students will be released at 1pm at the end of the award assembly. Please plan to pick up your children at 1pm from school or two hours earlier than the usual drop off time from the bus stop.

Congratulations to our middle school VEX IQ Robotics team for ranking 1st in the regional competition in Scottsburg yesterday and qualifying for the state finals. Kudos to Mr.Turker, their coach and the students :

Knight’s Club, our afterschool program that runs until 5:30pm, resumes tomorrow, Monday, January 14th. If you are interested in enrolling your child in Knight’s Club, please contact Ms. Bell at 317-259-7300 ext 177.

This week all students will receive their report cards in the mail along with re-enrollment form for next school year. Please be on the lookout for them.

Please remember that the Box Top Leadership Club is collecting Box Tops until May.  PLEASE SAVE YOUR BOX TOPS AND SEND THEM TO YOUR CHILD’S CLASSROOM TEACHER.   EACH BOX TOP we collect, the school receives 10 cents!  Thank you for your support.
