COVID-19 : School closed until May 1

March 20, 2020

Dear Board Members, Staff, Parents, Families, and Partners in Education,

We are writing to provide you another update on the most current developments and guidance regarding the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.

Earlier today, Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett announced that all 13 public school systems and city-sponsored charter schools in Marion County will be closed beginning Friday, March 13 and schools will resume Monday, May 1.

Both Indiana Math and Science Academy campuses will be closed during this time.

In the meantime, our custodial staff will regularly disinfect doorknobs, drinking fountains, and other high-frequency “touchpoints,” and of course restrooms and cafeterias.  Teachers will regularly talk with their classes about ways to keep germs from spreading, and they may begin to create optional virtual or electronic learning opportunities for students.

As always, and especially during flu season, anyone who becomes sick with a fever, cough, or difficulty breathing needs to stay home. Contact your medical provider with questions.

At Concept Schools, we know decisions like these impact families, and we understand the sacrifice this will entail, but it is the right thing to do.  Our top priority is the health and safety of students and staff, and we will continue to follow the guidance of local, state, and federal health officials in this evolving situation.

ELearning days will start on Monday, March 16th. Please find the eLearning details in this document. There will not be eLearning days during Spring break, the week of March 23rd.
