CARE Mobile Food Pantry

CARE Mobile Food Pantry

GLEANERS are gearing up for our summer CARE Mobile Food Pantry and would love for you to share this wonderful informational flyer with you. Locations are from June 3rd through August 24th unless otherwise noted.

In 2015, former Indianapolis Public Safety Director and Chief of Police, Troy Riggs, outlined a visionary, analytical review of public safety and quality of life. He shared that hunger is at the foundation of many social issues, including crime. His report showed that many offenses are committed to raise money to obtain food. This understanding compelled Gleaners to develop an education and engagement program to address the hunger issue in each of the six “focus areas.”

In 2018, CARE Mobile Pantries served more than 16,000 households and provided over 320,000 lbs of fresh, healthy produce. The program has been so successful that we expanded to CARE Bags, allowing officers to carry bags of food that will provide 8-12 meals for a family that may need immediate assistance.
